Dunabogdany
CC won by 42 runs
On a perfect afternoon for cricket DCC welcomed back the Kangaroos. Akbar, returning after a long spell of injury, won the toss and decided to put DCC into bat for this 30-overs-per-side match. The pitch was full of bounce and the outfield extremely fast. Kangaroos started quickly with Gabor and Tamas Torok bowling on full lengths and accurately. Without doubt the Kangaroos took the driving seat, taking DCC opener Gray and danger man Mcleod, both for ducks!! With the arrival of Devany at the crease, partnered by the established Brown, they achieved a 50 partnership to take the game away from the Kangaroos. Brown finally retired on an unbeaten 42, just after Devany (7) fell lbw. Watson (7) and Moss (15) partnered well, being quick between the wickets, with excellent backing up by both. They pushed on the DCC total and concreted their control. In the last 10 DCC overs Zador again hit a very fast 12 and new man Kruger (12) looked totally comfortable at the crease and his hitting was impressive. The DCC innings closed on 172.
In reply the Kangaroos faced a very quick Parihar. The pitch still offered a lot of bounce and the first four wickets were taken for only 1 run. With the arrival of Kangaroos captain Gabor Torok at the crease, he made his intentions clear, hitting his first ball to the boundary. The powerful hitting continued and Gabor soon passed his fifty. The DCC bowlers bowled tightly and welcomed back Akbar to bowl out his full 6 overs. Instead of bowling his usual seamers he bowled all 6 overs in off-spin, getting a lot of turn on a quickly dying wicket. Only Tamas Torok (8) offered any further resistance and Gabor ran out of partners at the crease, finishing on a bludgeoning 83. DCC fielded sharply, new keeper Anthony filling Hudetz's shoes admirably, being graceful and athletic (thanks Steve for the 5000 Forints for saying this!).
Saty Parihar took Man of the Match for his great spell of lively, accurate bowling, taking 5 for only ten runs.
