Genpact won by 5 wickets
Overnight rain made conditions a little slippery but still playable at Hungarian cricket's wonderful new venue, the Rákosszentmihály Football Club in Budapest's district XVI, and Dunabogdány (playing their first away match of the season) and home team Genpact duly took to the field for a 20-over friendly.
DCC lost the toss and were put in to bat, and after a rather slow start picked up the pace in the later overs, finishing on 126-8. Main contributions with the bat came from opener Rob Smyth (20), Benjamin Lebor (24) and wicketkeeper Steve Anthony (an aggressive 23 with two sixes). Importantly, the fruits of the recent coaching course in Budapest attended by a dozen players began to show, particularly in the case of DCC's Máté Benczés, who showed a new-found confidence with the bat in pulling a fine boundary through mid-wicket.
In reply, Genpact always looked like making the runs comfortably - although if Anthony had held on to a sharp caught-behind chance from Genpact's star batsman of the day Parminder Bedi, off the bowling of Greg Hensman, things might have been different... It proved an expensive drop, as Bedi went on to top-score on 49, helped later on by Ashok Bhattacharya, and Genpact eventually made their target with five wickets down and four overs to spare.
The match was played in a good competitive spirit and Genpact were worthy winners.
