Royal Tigers won by 76 runs
The second home match of the season for Comenius saw them optimistic but realistic for the visit of the Royal Tigers, top of the league and very much in form. Could they perform out of their skins and pull off the unthinkable?
Batting first, the Tigers lost their captain Manish Jain at the end of the second over, but that brought Tushar Gandhi to the wicket and he played himself in before unleashing some lusty blows - umpire Steve Anthony had to roll up his socks and wade into the lake to recover one ball! Finally out to a wonderful diving catch from the home side's Arindam Mukherjee for 32, Tushar top-scored in his team's 141-9, with Alex Guinness blasting some runs at the end.
Comenius' first wicket to fall was also that of the captain, Andy Grieve leaving a fizzing ball from Amandeep Singh which shattered his off stump. Only Arindam batted well as the wickets fell, with ducks for Saurav and Krisztian. Lucky Singh cleaned up in the middle, taking four wickets, leaving Vasu Reddy to bowl the two Comenius schoolgirls to ease the Tigers to their 76-run win.
