| Kohinoor won by 97 runs
History was made at RAFC on Sunday 3rd May 2009, as Kohinoor batsman Zahir took full advantage of the new 30 over possibilities, entering at number 3 in the first over and bringing up the very first century ever in Hungary in the final over of the Kohinoor innings. CONGRATULATIONS TO Zahir for this amazing achievement, which included one blasting over of 5 sixes in a row (he didn't face the first ball of that over). Surely another Hungarian record.
Having been put in to bat, Zahir entered the scene following Phillip Gamble's spectacular direct hit to remove the dangerous Habib for a platinum duck (out for 0 without facing a ball), and was helped along the way by Kennedy (46) and Haroun (61) to bring up Kohinoor's massive 289-5 off their 30 overs. Will that be beaten this season? Hard to imagine. Thundering bowling from Abed (who was later joined by Habib as being the 'best bowlers not to take wickets' on this day) was not enough to stop the rout, and the second wicket partnership of 95 was later added to by a blistering partnership of 146 runs from 11 overs between Haroun and Zahir.
The Baggies reply started solidly enough, but 290 was never really going to be chased despite reaching 70 without loss. Wickets steadily tumbled on the way to being bowled out for 185, with the only consolation for the Blues being captain Andrew Leckonby's 89 - caught on the boundary trying to belt Haroun for six two balls in a row. Not exactly the bowler to try to do that against, and the steady hands of Kennedy ensured that Zahir's history-breaking innings would remain alone on this day that belonged to the batsmen.
One CENTURY, two half-centuries and a 46 were encouraging signs of the reliability of the RAFC pitch, which played as consistently as the Kohinoor batsmen for the vast majority of deliveries throughout the match. Kohinoor impressive victors on a day to remember for Hungarian Cricket.
