| GKDK won by 24 runs
On a sunny, but cloudy and windy day a friendly match was held between players from three teams - Green Kings, Baggy Blues and Danubian Kangaroos. The latter was represented on each side, so they couldn't lose!
The Green Kings/Danubian Kangaroos team were asked to bat and started strongly. Abdul Khan and Aftab took advantage of some inaccurate bowling from the Baggy Blues/Danubian Kangaroos combo and put on 70 for the first wicket, Aftab falling for 19 in the seventh over. Abdul stuck around until the score reached 100, when he retired to give a chance to others - he had made 47 runs, including 3 sixes and 4 fours. Aneel came to the crease and struck 4 sixes and 3 fours from only 10 balls, helping the team reach a total of 146 from their 15 overs.
The opposition started their innings with Abed Nazar and Gabor Torok, and they too got off to a fine start. However, Gabor was bowled by Aneel in the sixth over and Abed soon followed, bowled by Abdul. Tamas Torok came to the wicket and played very well, batting right to the end of the match. They needed 32 from the last over, but Abdul restricted them to just 7 and they ended on 122, meaning that the Green Kings/Danubian Kangaroos team ended up 24-run winners. Tamas hit 43, a fantastic knock but not enough to steer his side to victory.
Man of the match: Abdul Khan |
